When I first met Lena she was a shy 11 year old.  I had seen her on Hughie Green's " Opportunity Knocks " and thought she was just another percocious child.  How completely wrong I was.  Lena was a delicate and shy girl but with an overload of talent.  We had the same agent, Dorothy Solomon who had brought us together for a six week run of " The Bachelors Show ".   The girls ( other two Vernons, Patsy Snell and Jackie Evans ) and myself had such fun with Lena -- we laughed and laughed but, more than that, we were so impressed with her personality and ability to do " first takes " when pre-recording tracks.    Whilst waiting for the show to start, if we were on the stage together, we would wave to her, thumbs up, ready for the cameras to roll.  She used to impersonate me by standing behind me and I would mime and her voice would come from the back with her hands in front of me, doing my movements.  She was very good at it -- why am I surprised.  She was a star that we lost far too soon -- one that is undoubtedly still shining in the heavens above us.  I miss you Lena.  Corinne Reed - ex Vernons girl.
